Our promise: kidmode is built for young children. It shows no
ads, contains no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs, has no chat or social
features, and never sells or shares personal information with anyone.
Who we are
kidmode (kidmode.io) is an independent family app operated by Luke Wade. Questions or requests: [email protected].
What kidmode stores, and why
- No accounts, no sign-in: kidmode never asks for a name, email address, phone number or password, and collects no personal information from anyone.
- Everything stays on the device: wishes, favorite pictures, AI creations and doodles — and settings like theme, sound, star counts and streaks — are stored only on the phone, tablet or browser where they were made. None of it is uploaded to us or to anyone else, and there is no public sharing.
Search and AI pictures
- Image Search (and the wishlist picture picker) shows only pictures from Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons, fetched by our server. Every query passes a word filter and automated moderation, and every picture's title, categories and description are screened before it is shown (reproductions of old artworks are left out). Each picture shows its author and license, as its Creative Commons license requires. Queries are not linked to any person and are retained only briefly in a results cache.
- "Create Image" generates pictures with an AI model on our own infrastructure inside a child-safe, G-rated template with automated moderation. Prompts are not linked to any person.
Services we rely on
- Cloudflare hosts the app and processes searches and AI image generation at the edge.
- Wikimedia Foundation (Wikipedia, Wikimedia Commons) serves the pictures shown in Image Search. Our server asks for pictures on your behalf; no account or device information is sent with the request.
These providers process data solely on our behalf to run the app.
Children's privacy (COPPA)
kidmode has no accounts and does not collect personal information from children (or anyone else). Store searches and settings sit behind a parental gate. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Your choices
- Delete any saved item any time inside the app.
- Deleting the app — or clearing this site's data in your browser — erases everything kidmode saved on that device.
- Before September 2026, kidmode offered optional parent accounts. If you created one and want it and its saved items deleted, email [email protected] and we will delete them.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date below. We will never weaken the promises in the box at the top.
